Woven

An installation composed of industrial fluorescent tubes woven together with black nylon threads. The flexibility of the nylon contrasts with the rigidity of the fluorescent tubes, creating a dialogue between labor-intensive handcraft and products of industrial mass production. Suspended from the ceiling and positioned far from a wall, the installation leaves a gap that allows viewers to glimpse its inner, rear side. There, a tangled network of electrical wires and sensors is exposed, revealing the technological system that activates the interactive work. As viewers pass by, sections of the fluorescent tubes switch on and off in response to their movement.
