Danielle engages with and draws inspiration from street art, graffiti, and the urban environment. In her work, she brings the public realm into dialogue with the private and personal sphere, creating relationships between interior and exterior, opacity and transparency, concealment and exposure. The transparent Plexiglas surface reveals the different stages of the working process, exposing what takes place “behind the scenes” of the work. Across the transparent, concave surface, Danielle inscribes dense, miniature, and painstakingly rendered marks and text that resemble a coded secret language. These elements form an autonomous and alternative visual world populated by numerous symbols. The transparency of the surface makes the drawn elements appear to float across it, almost breaking free into the surrounding space.
