In Safety Pin Mashrabiya, Danielle Feldhaker transforms a humble, functional object into a delicate architectural screen. Through the repetitive accumulation of safety pins, the work evokes the mashrabiya, a traditional element that separates and connects interior and exterior, private and public space. The safety pin, associated with repair, fastening, protection, and vulnerability, becomes part of a fragile ornamental structure, suspended between domestic labor and architectural memory, utility and poetry, exposure and concealment.
